Owner Tony Kawaguchi studied in Tokyo as a sushi chef. There, he was approached by the four-star Hatsu Hana Corporation and moved in 1982 to Hawaii to become a sushi chef. From there, Tony moved to New York Cit, Chicago, Illinois, and Los Angeles for Hatsu Hana.
Tony also worked in Aspen, Colorado at the Takha Sushi, followed by Arizona beac in Tempe, Arizona.
Tony began his own restaurant, Sushi Katsu (Katsu means victory) in Akron’s Merriman Valley in 1990 and now boasts the “best Sushi in Ohio!”
The Japanese have one of the lowest heart disease rates in the world. Healthy Japanese foods include brown rice, fish, vegetables, miso soup (soybean soup w/ tofu) and sashimi (raw fish).
